Carawagon conversion retains many original fittings. Extending roof for ample standing room. Fitted with 200 tdi Disco engine, see Classic Land Rover magazine Aug 2016. Full details www.theoldlady.uk

This vehicle has been unused and in dry storage since before Covid but is now out and running. Made in the last 3 weeks of Series 2A production , it has a previous ownership and long history with “Lady” Sopwith-Pilkington, who commissioned it from Searle’s in 1972, hence its nickname “The Old Lady”. She then set off on the ‘hippy’ trail around Africa with it in 1972 and the vehicle still has many mementoes of that and future journeys to Africa. The interior still retains many of the original fittings by Searle including stretcher style bunk beds. The extending roof is easy to erect and provides ample standing room inside. Fitted with a 200 tdi Discovery engine (you could easily retro fit a 2¼ if you wanted to), P6 diffs and the Fairey Overdrive, so it will cruise comfortably at 55/60 mph on A roads. It had a gearbox overall in 2017. Original sandy coloured paintwork with a “patina” worthy of it’s travels. Featured in Classic Land Rover magazine in August 2016.
