This 1999 Defender 110 Td5 has tried and tested off-road capability The true value in this vehicle lies largely out of sight. Starting with the formidable Td5 turbocharged diesel engine, it has powered this Defender across the country, up greenlanes and along country roads for 142,500 miles (8,500 miles under my 2yr ownership) and is showing no signs of giving up on the task, in fact it revels in it. The off-road capabilities of this vehicle are legend for good reason and this truck is no exception. A set of 33" rugged Nankang Mudstar Radial M/T mud terrain tyres (33x12.50R15LT) with plenty of tread remaining (12~14mm on all four, 14mm on the unused spare) provide serious grip to climb hills and traverse trails. If you know about the perils of cross-axle obstacles while on a 4x4 trail, the enlarged coil springs and 33" tyres give an impressive lift to climb over anything you encounter along the way. The look is perhaps not to everyone's taste but if you're in the market for fun, adventure and your own Land Rover Defender project this is the truck for you. Snorkel has been removed, fittings remain to replace if desired. Load space As a family we've had numerous treks across the UK and the load capacity is second to none. Add a roof rack and you'll double your space. We decided against a roof tent, opting instead to carry the canvas tent in the back. Included in the sale are two custom made 24mm thick (570 x 1280mm) oiled marine plywood sheets and three 100 x 50mm oiled struts w/brackets that together form an amazing sleeping platform in the back of the 110. Drop & rotate the middle row seats forward, add a mattress and you've got your own accommodation option. Seating The front row of seats currently has a cubby box in the middle position with good storage space and two cup holders. The 12th seat is available and comes with the vehicle. It can be fitted in place of the cubby to get your full football team compliment of 11 players and a manager. The middle row has three standard factory fitted seats, all flat foldable and able to rotate forward, down into the middle foot well. The rear seats are bench style and run parallel to the sides of the vehicle. The rear bench seat trays fold upward to make space for a load or the sleeping platform. All 11 current seats have seatbelts. Rear and middle floor coverings are a ribbed longitudinal rubber and in great nick. The front foot wells are tidy but showing their age. The front and middle seat coverings are in great condition. The rear bench coverings are starting to sag but otherwise good condition. Technical Specifications: What's in the box? Fuel consumption averages 26 mpg, 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in 17.5 seconds, a maximum top speed of 81 mph (130 km/h) - 75mph no problem, a curb weight of 4530 lbs (2055 kgs), the Defender 110 Td5 has a turbocharged In-line 5 cylinder engine, diesel motor. This engine produces a maximum power of 122 PS (120 bhp - 90 kW) at 4200 rpm and a maximum torque of 300 Nm at 1950 rpm. The power is transmitted to the road by the all wheel drive (AWD) with a 5 speed Manual gearbox. The Defender 110 has rigid axle, coil springs, anti-roll bar front suspension and De Dion axle. Coil springs, anti-roll bar rear suspension. The Defender 110 Td5 braking system includes vented discs at the front and discs at the rear. Factory fitted immobiliser/ alarm in good working order, front recovery handles added, rear ball & pin towing hitch, towing electrics all working, Land Rover lifting jack (Coram) plus supplied tyre spanner and chocks, a foot pump included, Bluetooth audio receiver and speakers all working, 2 x 5W USB ports, battery voltage indicator, Haynes Owner's manual included, new Defender/Rover decals/badges included, service kit included; air filter etc. Battery is in good working order and showing green light from its indicator. Everything you need to kickstart a 4x4 adventure and head to the nearest green lane. Maintenance work, additions and removals Considerable work has been done on this truck over the past two years amounting to £6,500 of maintenance, additions and removals. Originally registered in 20 April 1999, its currently registered and the truck's MOT is valid until 18th February 2021. Where advisories have been noted they have been attended to mostly by the same local Land Rover specialist garage. Current MOT history can be found here: (registration T507JOP). New clutch cylinders New steering armature New alternator New alpine window seals An old snorkel has been removed and the bolt holes surrounding the air intake filled with fiberglass filler ready for repaint. The snorkel bulkhead fitting remains in place to re-attach a new snorkel if required. A Bluetooth audio receiver has been fitted and two new speakers plumbed into in the factory fitted locations. A genuine Land Rover lifting jack (Coram) and tyre spanner, chocks set has been sourced and is included - stored under passenger front seat. Foot pump included. Ball and pin towing hitch coupling 3500kg towing jaw has been fitted. Height adjustable for different loads. Towing electrical attachment has been fitted into the power take off cavity. Towing electrics thoroughly checked at last MOT. Front towing attachments fitted Custom rear door panel covering Rear door stay for assisted opening The following has been maintained/resolved Handbrake failed, repaired. Corroded brake pipes/fittings replaced and repaired. The transfer box - an integral part of the off road capability - failed on an off-road trip and has been replaced with a new transfer box - £875. Turbo fans maintained and has markedly improved performance Issues with the vehicle: Rust commensurate with age and make of vehicle. There is rust in the normal places Defenders rust. It's not pretty but its not unusual. Exterior paint & surface. Needs a re-paint Exterior surface Consider the exterior body a blank canvas, ready to add your own personal touch to this capable truck. Here's where you get to go 'Defender project'. The truck has been a prop in a movie and had armour & camouflage riveted to its body. Rivet holes have been sanded back to surface aluminium and filled appropriately. The exterior colour was originally a Land Rover Chawton White. During its movie career the rear has been painted red and the rest of the vehicle a matte, off-white. No primer has been applied to any of the repairs. If I was to keep the truck I'd personally repaint and take the entire truck back to its factory original, but hey this is your gig, fill your boots - this blank, slightly dimpled canvas is all yours.
