Limited run of Classic Defender V8 Trophy II models revealed Images

Land Rover is renowned the world over for its expeditions, and with demand for the classic Defender hotter than microchips (well almost) and a must-have for any car collector worth his (or her) salt, the brand’s Classic division decided to put two and two together. That’s right – it is creating 25 Classic Defender Works V8 Trophy II vehicles finished in a unique exterior design that plays homage to the 23 locations that have played a part in Land Rover’s illustrious off-roading and exploration adventures over more than 70 years.  These include, among others, The Camel Trophy, The First Overland and the G4 Challenge.

Like a real life spot the car for big kids, the iconic silhouette of Defender and Series Land Rovers are hidden within a unique camouflage design for you to find. Can you find them all? Better than that, every customer will be invited to take part in the second specially devised three-day Trophy competition exclusively organised by Land Rover Classic.

And if you’re worried about scratching your new found love – don’t be – Land Rover Classic call it patina so it’s okay, and with guidance from its experts to compete in the series of points-based off-road challenges you should come away without incident. One team will walk away with a grand prize, too, and what a way to get acquainted with your vehicle and make memories!

In the production run of 25, Land Rover Classic will create only five Double Cab Pick-ups (offered for the first time on a Trophy model), with the remaining 20 vehicles split between 90 and 110 Station Wagon body styles equally. Each one will be stripped and rebuilt by hand to exacting standards and improved high specifications and powered by a 5.0-litre V8 engine producing 399bhp and 380lb-ft  of torque, and mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. The brakes, suspension and steering will be uprated to match as well.

The distinctive Fuji White and Narvik Black exterior design is enhanced with a satin black bonnet (to reduce glare as well as look good) and detailing (such as rivets, screws and vents), together with Land Rover Trophy heritage badging. Gloss black 18 inch Sawtooth alloy wheels complement the theme. Inside one can expect Recaro sports seats finished in black and white Windsor leather with contrast stitching that also extends to the dashboard, doors and headlining, while Land Rover Classic’s modern Infotainment System with integrated navigation and mobile device connectivity brings things bang up-to-date.

A bespoke Land Rover Trophy clock by Elliot Brown is the centre piece of the dashboard, with a unique face that mirrors the camouflage. Trophy owners will also be given a Competitor’s Edition timepiece while, for those not lucky enough to have the cash to splash on a Defender Works V8 Trophy II, Elliot Brown are releasing 1000 watches inspired by the limited run Land Rover.

And you needn’t fret that you’re Defender isn’t up to that aforementioned expedition. At the front, a protective A-frame houses a winch ahead of a bespoke front grille, while a powerful full-width 1.27m LED light bar provides ultimate visibility in all-terrain conditions at night. At the rear you’ll find a recovery point, rock sliders, and a ladder to provide access to the expedition roof rack. An external roll bar adds body protection.

Michael van der Sande, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, said: “The Defender has conquered terrains across the world. Our latest Classic Works V8 Trophy II honours this expedition heritage in its unique exterior design, paying homage to some of these stunning locations. Each of the 25 vehicles available is a labour of love, sourced, assembled and remastered by our passionate specialist team.”
