If you enjoy a spot of off-roading and either live in the Lake District or are planning to visit the UK’s largest National Park sometime soon, you should seek out Dalton 4x4 Offroad.

It’s a brand new 26-acre course that caters for beginners in stock vehicles, through to heavily modified trucks, with water splashes, mud bogs, rock climbs, cross-axle challenges and everything in between. It is not to be confused with a pay and play site, with the course split into zones with varied difficulty. On the day of your visit, you’ll be assigned to one of their friendly guides who will work with you to understand what you want to get out of your time, and suggest the best zones for you to drive. Your guide will then lead you round the course in a ‘follow the leader’ fashion. It goes without saying that all vehicles driving the course must hold a valid MoT and insurance. It’s priced at £37.50 for a two-hour session with additional drivers paying a tenner each, and from March onwards they’re hoping to offer on-site camping so you can make a trip of it. If you have any questions, feel free to drop a line to [email protected].
