Defender Rally Series announces plans for its 2024 UK and European championships

Applications are now open for the 2024 Defender Rally Championship, which uses Bowler Motorsport-prepared Defender 90s and brings together experienced and novice race drivers for a series of cross-country rallying tests.

With seven varied rounds across the UK that start from March 2024, the third running of the one-make championship offers competitors the opportunity to test and develop their skills on a mixture of surfaces, ranging from gravel tracks to hill rallies. Participants also have the option to join specific international events throughout the year.

The Bowler Motorsport Defender is based on the production Defender 90 and uses the same powertrain as showroom models – 296bhp and 295lb-ft of torque – but with chassis, brakes and other components suitably modified by Bowler for off-road competition.

Drivers can secure a vehicle and a place in the UK championship from £118,000 plus VAT (£141,600). This fee includes a rally-prepared Defender based on the latest generation P300 SE production model, and the services of a dedicated race technician, senior race engineer and electrical specialist.

That fee also grants competitors access to a comprehensive support network at each event, including a dedicated parts department, mobile workshop and catering. Away from the races themselves, the package provides training, technical support and mentoring.

Spaces in the 2024 UK Defender Rally Series are limited to 16 vehicles; at the time of writing, six of those places have already been sold.
