LRM’s first auto jumble event of the year a massive success
Magnificent Malvern Images

LRM’s first event of the year, the 4×4, Land Rover & Vintage Spares Day held recently at the Malvern showgrounds was an unprecedented success. It had double the amount of trade stands compared to last year’s winter event while attendance was up by whopping 100%. The fact that the sun was shining brightly certainly helped the success of the day.

Most attendees pre-booked their tickets online which meant a saving of £2.50 per ticket. Plus, no standing in a line to purchase a ticket on the day for those that did pre-book. Definitely the way to go if you are thinking of attending any of the four LRM events left for this year.

While the first two halls were full of 4x4 and Land Rover bits the third hall was occupied by the Tractor World Parts & Spares Day traders. Our esteemed editor was spotted in this hall purchasing a vintage Union Jack flag at the Send Her Victorious trade stand. He must be getting ready for the Queens’s Platinum Jubilee.

The Charlesworth & Son LTD trade stand in the 4x4 and Land Rover spares hall was a popular one. This family business makes quality switches and knobs for classic Land Rovers. All their goods were neatly displayed in a cleverly converted Sankey trailer. Their Border Terrier Puppy also helped to attract people to their stand.

The new kid on the block award for the event has to go to Defender Rear Tubs, this relatively new business does exactly what their name says. They make quality new rear tubs for Defenders. Who said you can’t build a whole new old Defender from bits purchased at one of the LRM events? We think you can.

Due to the sunshine many traders who had booked indoor stands opted for outside ones instead. The Series I Club used the day to sign up new members, while they also had a lovely display of 15 vehicles which proved to be very popular. Many had their bonnets up with several enthusiasts gathered around to chew the fat and exchange ideas.

These events are all about finding elusive and rare bits for your Land Rover at a bargain prices. Octane magazine Deputy Editor Mark Dixon looked pleased as punch with his purchases. Mark bought an ex-MoD exhaust extractor so that he can run an engine from inside his garage. Plus, he found a cover for the pick-up bed of his Series 1 107in.

Event founder Mark Woodward and his team must be congratulated for another job very well done. Despite the increase in the number of traders and attendees there were lots of smiling faces everywhere and zero incidents.

Our next event is our most popular one of the year, the Newbury 4x4, Land Rover and Vintage Spares Day on Sunday 10 April 2022. Save money and avoid the long lines at the entrance gate by booking your ticket now. Click here to attend the biggest Land Rover auto jumble in all of Europe in April. Hope to see you there.
