Ineos Automotive announces smaller, all-electric model, the Fusilier

While Land Rover (or should that be Defender, Discovery, Jaguar and Range Rover) is deliberating how to retail its models and what a ‘House of Brands’ might look like, Ineos Automotive has been busy announcing a new smaller, all-electric model, the Fusilier.

The more compact 4x4 will offer two powertrain options, one all-electric and the other a low-emission range-extender option, comprising a small petrol engine that powers a generator to maintain the the battery’s charge level when external charging isn’t available. Further powertrain details and launch timings are expected by autumn 2024.

Despite adopting electric powertrains, Ineos insists that the Fusilier will still offer the same ‘world-class’ on- and off-road performance as its big brother: there remains public cynicism about how EVs cope away from tarmac. The Fusilier sits on a bespoke platform and is shorter and lower than the Grenadier.
