Land Rover fans well catered for at this upcoming winter event

As WINTER creeps up on us and the days become shorter and colder, there’s a distinct lack of Land Rover shows. However, there is one event that you should pen in your diary and it’s almost certainly different to what you’re normally used to. Taking place over the first weekend (2-3) of December, the Motoring Literary & Art Festival, organised by Porter Press International, is a festival devoted to books, magazines, art and automobilia. It will be held within The Wing at Silverstone, and includes a full programme of panel discussions and talks by a stellar line-up of over 50 speakers from across the motoring world. The event will also feature prominent automotive artists (painting live), specialist exhibitors and a selection of star cars and conversations with motoring personalities.

Every interest is catered for, but particularly the green oval, so expect to see Camel Trophy winners Bob and Joe Ives (together with their winning Land Rover) chatting with event photographer and author Nick Dimbleby; Chris Wall, Mike Palmer and Waxy Wainwright who traversed Europe, Asia and Africa, visiting some 40 countries and covering 40,000 miles in 1969/70; and award-winning restorer Julian Shoolheifer in conversation with Martin Port, author of JUE 477 – The World’s First Production Land-Rover.

For more information go to motorlitartfest.co.uk. Tickets are available from £22 and with advance bookings only – LRM readers benefit from 10% off admission and threatre sessions by using EVENTLR10 at checkout. Email [email protected] or call 01584 781588.
